Overview
Walkem Group delivered a large-scale roofing refurbishment for Portsmouth Academy, covering approximately 1,300 square metres. The project involved stripping existing felt and installing a new high-performance felt roofing system on both the sports hall and main office buildings. This proactive maintenance extends the life of these key assets and prevents water ingress.

The Challenge
Large-scale roofing projects are highly weather-dependent. Ensuring the buildings remained watertight during the transition from old to new roofing was critical to protect the school's interior assets.
Our Solution
We employed a phased 'strip and seal' approach, only removing as much old roofing as could be replaced in a single day. This, combined with rigorous weather monitoring and contingency planning, ensured the school remained dry and operational throughout the works.
