Overview
Holcombe Grammar School required the refurbishment of a worn grass bank into a durable, usable outdoor space. As part of the Thinking Schools Academy Trust (TSAT), this project aimed to create 'Thinking Facilities' that support student wellbeing. The works involved extensive ground preparation, new drainage systems, and the construction of a retaining brick wall with integrated seating.

The Challenge
The site suffered from poor ground conditions and waterlogging. Additionally, the project had to be completed strictly within the summer holidays to avoid disrupting the academic term. Logistics were constrained by the school's layout.
Our Solution
Walkem Group mobilised quickly at the start of the summer break. We installed robust soakaway systems to manage surface water and used high-durability materials for the retaining walls and seating. The project was handed over on time, providing a safe and attractive outdoor learning environment.
