Overview
This critical safety upgrade involved the removal of existing tile hanging on student residential buildings and mobile units. Walkem Group installed fire-resistant cement Hardie board cladding, significantly improving fire safety standards while modernising the buildings' exterior appearance. The works were carried out efficiently during a low-occupancy period.

The Challenge
The primary challenge was removing the old tiles without damaging the underlying timber structure. Ensuring the new fire cement board was installed to rigorous fire safety specifications was paramount. Weather conditions in January also posed logistical challenges.
Our Solution
Our team implemented careful removal techniques to preserve the structural integrity of the buildings. We worked closely with fire safety consultants to ensure all new cladding met the highest compliance standards. Flexible programming allowed us to mitigate weather delays, completing the project on schedule.
